Zoo York 'World Cup Tour' demo at Stokeplaza- Thursday 15th June 2006 |
For once, an event where the weather didn't spoil things for us! A sunny day at the plaza is just skate heaven!! The Zoo York team, arrived at the plaza around 5pm and started to check the place out, coasting round the different spots, looking for a good place to start sessioning. The team consisted of Forest Kirby (who didn't skate as he was suffering with an upset stomach- hence kept disappearing!!!), Donny Barley, Matt Miller and Ron Deily. The first little session was a bit of a warm up in the bowl but soon fizzled out and a search for street stuff was on. Matt Miller and Ron Deily soon eyed up the long block and proceeded to rip it apart with an array of technical wizardry! Ron Deily was amazing! Backside tailsslide shuv out, b/s blunt 180 out, f/s 5-0 180 out, f/s blunts and so near with kickflip b/s tailslides. Matt Miller was showing off his huge pop and landed a peach of a nollie f/s nosegrind 180 out!

Meanwhile Donny Barley was hitting the new transition on the graf wall. Huge wall-rides to flat were dished out which made some nice photo opportunities for Leo from Sidewalk. The kicker to ledge/wall then got some sessioning by all three skaters. Donny Barley was casually doing wallies and wallie 180's up the ledge- just chilln'! Ron Deily landed a mint b/s lip on the ledge and nailed a manual all the way along to kickflip out. Matt Miller nailed a nice long b/s 5-0 the whole ledge and was trying backside nosegrind on it. Ron Deily then, now fully warmed up, took to the 'big-3'. Ollieing them straight off and then kickflipping them after a couple of tries. He then nailed a nollie 180, a perfect backside flip and finished the demo with a tre-flip down them after about three goes! Perfect! After that, only the proddy toss could top it! All the kids got decked out with tees and stickers and the usual 'scrap' over a deck was dished out accordingly!! A massive thanks to Marco for setting this up in the first place and of course the Zoo York team for coming and visiting us at the plaza and for entertaining the masses with their skillls! CHEERS!!
